This was their third league outing, their previous two games had been in the FA Cup and Kent Senior Cup, both won so this league victory was both welcome and nervously anticipated. In the final analysis the nerves were settled as quickly as Bay got into their stride and a 19th minute opener from Danny Leonard paved the way. He might have had a second when his 33rd minute shot curled the wrong side of the left hand upright.
Alexander Mulrooney- Skinner skipped through the offside in the 54th minute to put daylight between the teams. When substitute Jake Embery sent Herne Bay 3-0 up in the 90th minute Bay were cruising but Keanu Williams grabbed a consolation deep into time added on to knock some of the icing off the cake.
Speaking to Radio Cabin 94.6 FM's Peter Guise after the match, joint manager John Embery said,"We knew we had goals in us and we're getting stronger. We thought we would grow into it which is what we seem to be doing. They're working hard, they're a good bunch and we've got competitions for all the places. We've got a lot of youthful enthusiasm and the desire to do well".
Herne Bay's next fixture is away at Faversham Town on Bank Holiday Monday KO 3 pm.
