There were reports this morning (Tuesday 7th July) that an unexploded bomb had been found next to Reculver towers. 

It is believed that the bomb disposal team attended the area to investigate.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision which occurred in Fleetwood Avenue, Herne Bay on Saturday (21st October 2017). 

The incident happened shortly before 6.40pm when a grey Volkswagen Passat collided with a girl who was on foot.

Officers investigating an alleged cybercrime have arrested five people.

It relates to the alleged hacking of a Tunbridge Well based company in April 2017, which resulted in one of its clients making a £25,000 payment to a third party.

Kent Police are growing increasingly concerned about a person who has gone missing from a residential home in Herne Bay. 

Michael Browne, 75, was last seen leaving the home in Beacon Hill, Herne Bay at 8.45am yesterday (Wednesday 11th October).

Officers from Kent Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy following an attempted burglary.

Police were called to a shop in Mortimer Street, Herne Bay just before midnight (Monday 9th October) to reports that someone had smashed a glass panel of a shop door.

Herne Bay’s firefighters are offering basic life support training today (Tuesday 10th October 2017) in support of the national ‘Restart a Heart’ campaign. 

In the UK, less than one in ten people survive a cardiac arrest (when the heart stops or has a dangerous rhythm) and the campaign aims to increase survival rates.

Fire Engine

A woman in her 70’s has been treated for breathing in smoke after a fire at a property in Beacon Hill, Herne Bay.

Two Kent Fire & Rescue appliances attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire in the ground floor kitchen. The woman was given oxygen by the crews on arrival before being handed over to the ambulance for further treatment.

Plans have been revealed for a new Lidl store proposed for Herne Bay.

The discount foodstore is looking to build the new shop on the Old Thanet Way near the Greenhill Roundabout, between Roundabout Farm and the HGV entrance for the waste recycling centre.

Kent Police are reminding people living in semi-rural areas to be extra vigilant regarding the security of their properties.

This follows a spate of reported burglaries in the last three weeks that detectives believe are linked.
